About The Director

Although I'm originally from New York City, I've spent the last 30 years shooting commercial photography and video projects for high profile international clients all over Asia. My work has helped me explore some pretty diverse places - from the drug-lord controlled Burmese border with Thailand to some of the most high tech industrial operations in the world. Along the way, I've been able to meet and photograph some fascinating people - including Bill Gates, Lee Kwan Yew, titans of industry, and some very humble people quietly making a difference in their world.
I've also recently started exploring fine art photography, specialising in large format prints and canvases from around Asia. My commercial work can be seen at www.motionpictures.asia and my fine art work at www.alexandermanton.com.
Recently, I was invited to teach a course on photography and video at the most established art school in Southeast Asia. And I loved it. And it seems the students did too. This inspired me to create customised workshops for working professionals and enthusiasts - short term commitments to fit busy schedules, small classes that feel more like a tutorial, and learning in an intimate setting.
And so AsiaPhotoWorkshops was born. I hope you enjoy this experience as much as we have putting it together.
